Climate Action Commitment Renewal and Updates: Working Group Subcommittees

A list of working group subcommittees collaborating on Climate Action Commitment updates and revisions can be found below. Please click on each subcommittee listing for more details.

This subcommittee will investigate net emissions from Virginia Tech New River Valley land use and agriculture operations not included in the original Climate Action Commitment. The subcommittee will explore new opportunities for emissions reduction, waste digestion, and composting.

This subcommittee will review and explore budget and finance mechanisms that will help achieve prospective Climate Action Commitment goals.

This subcommittee will review progress being made around energy conservation efforts for new and existing buildings, and explore new ways to boost energy efficiency in these buildings through design guidelines, the Five-Year Energy Action Plan, and more.

This subcommittee is considering the equity and social justice aspects of Virginia Tech's climate action plan, including the social costs of energy production and waste, and how to aid those most vulnerable to climate change and mitigation.  

This subcommittee will strive to deliver engagement and feedback opportunities for the campus community in the revision process and during post-implementation of the revised Virginia Tech Climate Action Commitment.

This subcommittee will explore renewable energy opportunities including solar, biomass, wind, off-campus renewable energy opportunities at other Virginia Tech properties, and engaging new partnerships around renewable energy.
